Welcome To Medieval European Castles
The term medieval is the adjectival form from the middle ages. It was a period of European history from the 5th century to the 15th century. Since most of the castleswere buit in the medieval times you could term most of the castles throughout Europe: “Medieval European Castles”. The term "Middle Ages" (medium aevum) was coined in the 15th century and reflects the view that this period was a deviation from the path of classical learning, a path supposedly reconnected by Renaissance scholarship.
The Medieval castles were a fortified structure built in the middle Ages. Scholars debate the scope of the word castle, but usually consider it to be the private fortified residence of a lord or noble. Over the approximately 900 years that castles were built they took on a great many forms with many different features, although some are nothing more than ruins such as Hasting Castle or others may have been restored like the Herstmonceux Castle and many are still in the original condition such as Skipton Castle. No matter what condition Medieval European Castles will always have a mystical feel about them. Enjoy your stay at Medieval European Castles
